Certainty- An Interpretation

What is it like to be certain?

Certainty means a sense of control over the situation, a security emerging from mayhem and the concept of freedom. Legally certainty is represented as a clear and distinct statement of fact not open to interpretation. This essentially gives the following components of certainty that we work around with

In order to further emphasize this, I am going to use some examples-

Sam has just joined a new organization when the pandemic hit. The first thing their organization did was call a staff meeting to announce that there will be no layoffs or retrenchments. Sam knew her job was secured because it was made certain to him. Does that mean that she will not be aware of the impact of the pandemic on market but she is sure of the intent thereof of the employer? Meanwhile, the employer has won the admiration and the loyalty of the team by clear communication.

Where does freedom feature in? Once people know their livelihoods aren’t threatened, they are willingly helping the organization take the next step. They become partners to work with the organization.

The idea of Certainty helps us sleep better. The only challenge is answer the question- What would you like to be more certain or more uncertain?

  1. Certainly includes job security and for that you need right resources. Survival means job done but is it possible to do it without team/resources..

  2. One has to understand here that certainty or security is something to provide peace of mind. The task at hand will get improvised with time.
