I look forward to Monday’s now.
Interesting right! I have come a long way from ‘O God its Monday’ to’ Yay its
Monday again’. The reason for this shift is my 20-minute session I do every
week on the weekly issue I am discussing. It is an amazing transition in this
journey I have taken.
So here are some interesting learnings I have on my journey so far.
-
Preparation- I recently came across
the term Imposter Syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a constant feeling of
inadequacy despite obvious success. As a result, a person tends to
overcompensates in preparing or over prepares leaving nothing to chance. The concept was truly enlightening at the same
time empowering. It helped me look within and believe in me more and check
myself. Over the past few years, I have learned for myself, preparation helps.
No preparation makes it difficult for me to get my thoughts together. Over
preparation isn’t required.
-
Challenges- Yours will be new to you,
unlike anything you have come across
ever before. You can ask yourself the question what did you do in a similar
situation but all said and done, every situation is different.
-
Quitting- Your journey is not only
yours to make. They have a lot of hopes riding on them. Therefore sometimes,
even when the situation seems difficult and most testing, and one desperately wants
to give up or quit on the journey; it is just not an option. These journeys
are the hardest to make and most rewarding. Sometimes it takes more than two to
three lifetimes for a person to see the result of such journeys. Independence
struggle, Women voting rights, are just a few such examples where the purpose was
so much bigger than the journey that people had to sacrifice their lives to see
it come to life.
Journeys often bring about shifts, a
shift in mindset, a shift in learning, a shift in confidence, a shift in one’s
view of society. Quite early on in my career, I learned mindset change takes
time s so don’t expect miracles. This piece of information helped me
tremendously in all my journeys. Whenever I was faced with a puzzling
situation, I knew patience was the only way I could deal with. If someone was
to ask me, was it easy for me to learn it? I would accept it and say No. Life
teaches you what you need to learn. I had my share of whims but I learned.
Having this said, I believe everyone
has that one nugget that has helped them in their journey. What is yours? Think
about it and cherish it.
