Do I have to make the journey?
Every journey is a choice. The only
time we ask this question is when we know that we have a choice to take a journey
which automatically presumes that we are not ignorant.
Which journey to take?
The decision regards which journey to take is sometimes is based on choice and at others on
desperation or inspirations. What career to choose, what profession to go for, or even which vacation
to take are based on us being influenced by certain knowledge. That is why ensure that one broadens the
horizons of their knowledge before embarking upon any journey.
Who will accompany me?
Sometimes we are afraid to travel
alone. We need someone to accompany us. However, a journey often requires change and also see us changing or
evolving. Our fear is that we might lose
connection or we want to grow from our current place of being. What is very
important for anyone to understand is to grow is to move forward which means to
leave some things behind.
Can I come back?
I spoke about the burden of not quitting.
On one hand where I am a huge fan of staying on course and not giving up; I am
also a strong advocate for choosing battles wisely. I strongly believe that not all roads lead to success even when they seem to. Some are just testing you. Believe in yourself and your
instinct.
What if I don’t make through?
Fear of failure is my favourite. It is
the most natural thought and yet most defining. The challenge is to begin and
rest eventually falls in place. Some things come easily, journeys you like, preparing
for subjects you enjoy and then some others take time. Weight loss, finding a
job, are some of the difficult journeys. The challenge is to start.
How long will it take?
Your journey your time. There is no one time for the completion of your
journey. You might want to give yourself 1 year to lose 10 kgs or 2 months to
find a job or even read a book every month. But ultimately it is your
journey. Be sure to give you enough incentives to achieve it.
Can we take two journeys at a time?
We take multiple journeys at any
given point of time. We have
professional journeys, personal journeys, relationship journeys, spiritual
journeys, etc all existing almost side
by side. Sometimes we spread ourselves so thin that the need is to focus on few
rather than all. I recently heard a short talk by@ Neha Agarwal who mentioned
the power of delegation. She said, that she only focuses on work which is
intellectually stimulating and for rest she creates process and delegates. This
was a huge takeaway for me. We keep spending our lives running after non-essentials and ignoring what is truly important to us.
Why should I take this journey?
There are times when I have looked
back at my life and have thought would I have done it any differently. I don’t know
the answer. But I know one thing, when I take any journey now, I try and make
an informed decision. Informed based on whether I would like it to go for it or
not rather than someone else wants me to do it. This confidence has
come about after taking decisions and being okay with mistakes I have made, and
also by learning from them. My giveaway, here is when faced with the dilemma on
why you should take this journey, ask yourself, are you taking it because you
want it or some else expects you to.
