Purpose The week that was

This week my aim was to complete this issue on Purpose. My challenge was to keep going as I was facing not just concerns related to my health but also travel-related where I was faced with a myriad of emotions including fear, anger, happiness and a strong sense of gratitude. This week I discussed purpose as a direction, I spoke about the emotional aspect of achieving a purpose, I spoke about what my purpose gives me and also tried a new form of writing my blog.

When you’re looking for a reason to go on you will find things that make it happen for you. Another important takeaway that I wanted this week to have is,  never compare your journey with somebody else’s because if you do you will never reach anywhere. You will keep comparing. Even while I am doing this I keep thinking of so many other people have these cover distances which are much much further than I have and yet here I am proud of myself for covering my own distance.

During my live talk last Monday, someone asked me does purpose change during a lifetime. I believe it does because the purpose is like any other goal or any other mission.  It might just change but that doesn’t make it any less important or invalid. Every purpose is important especially to the person who owns it. My purpose is important to me.

Another differentiation that I would like to make though have already emphasised in my previous blogs is that people quite often confuse between goal and purpose. I would again like to reiterate it here a goal is more tangible vis-a-vis purpose which is intangible which cannot be measured and more like a mission statement.

If you achieve your goal proper purpose you will quintessentially achieve your goal in the process.

Purpose also does not automatically present itself. It is more a gradual process of inventing and reinventing oneself. It is a very long journey. Sometimes while on the journey one tends to get demotivated because of a seemingly distant goal. To stay focused and motivated one can chalk for themselves small targets. One that helps them make their journey so much more enjoyable.

On the way to the end always remember the people who got you there.  My highlight for today was my a message from my son to his friends. He was inviting his friends to read my blogs because he felt I wrote encouraging blogs for youngsters. I couldn’t be more proud and grateful. This was my reward for today.

All said and done, the purpose is my happiness and achievement. Keep following yours.
