Certainty- A Push Forward

I wasn’t sure what I was going to talk about this week. I was feeling a bit under the weather. I guess it was an effect of both post-Diwali blues, and the confused excitement of coming up with this week’s issue. There were two things which were flowing from my last week’s issue, Connections and Uncertainty.

I decided to with uncertainty because that is how I was feeling in the morning. In keeping with my theme of positivity, however, I wanted to go for a spirited topic.  Hence  Certainty. The interesting part was explaining this to my daughter.

So why certainty? Why did I choose this in times of constant change and movement? That is precisely the reason why. Even in times of absolute indecision and doubt, we were certain about something and uncertain about others. Let us look at some of the scary uncertainties this year.

  • -         Will we survive this?
  • -         When will this pandemic end?
  • -         Will I have a job tomorrow?
  • -         What will the future look like?
  • -         Will we ever be free again?

There were things that we were certain off.

  • -         We were certain that if we keep moving things are going to get better.
  • -         We were certain that giving up is not an option
  • -         We were certain that this is a testing time but we need to find a way out
  • -         We were certain we have to get out of it ourselves
  • -         We were certain that we find support in times of needs.

Is this list exhaustive? Absolutely not. For every uncertain situation, we came up with our own certainty. Our confidence paved the way to solutions giving us the power to face any situation. Connections were forms but out of a certainty that we will be able to achieve benefit from it. This past three month has seen me penning down some 100 blogs with 10 series on issues likes Mental Health, Learning, Coping, Success, Curiosity, Sensitivity, Perception, Purpose and Journey.  I wasn’t sure where I am going with this in the starting but I was certain I have to start somewhere.

Looking back, it feels satisfying. It is not just the number of issues that I have come up with; it is also the learning I have gathered along the way. The confidence I have managed to speak about an issue. This issue we talk about certainties that make our life simpler and uncertainties that make it exciting and a balance we achieve thereto.

My giveaway from this post is - There is no uncertainty that does not bring with itself a promise of certainty. The challenge lies in finding them and through this week we explore how we do that.

  1. Uncertainty creates insecurities. The challenge is to face them with confidence and positivity.
