Journey Surprises

Did you know there is something called a journey map? It is a part of a design thinking protocol. What are these?  Design thinking essentially is a way to solve the problem after having understood and delved upon all aspects of it. Journey Map is a tool to help us see and identify the problem from the perspective of the customer. It is interesting because of the elaborate nature of it.

Maybe I have oversimplified it but what was interesting because I came across this concept while looking for ‘Pain and Journey’.  One of the journey maps demonstrated the challenge in research on finding the content and worked with phases. https://blog.prototypr.io/journey-mapping-pain-points-success-moments-ac2d6cbcafae

Life is also very similar to this experience to mine.  The reason I went out looking for Pain and  Journey was because of a Facebook post shared by a classmate of mine @Maneesh Saraswat about Sacrifice and success. It was a profound share about a journey of two friends which required sacrifice from one of them. However, another classmate @AnilaVarughese had another beautiful perspective to it. She brought to light the unexpected contributions of strangers along the way. https://www.facebook.com/Corporatebytes/videos/822776591884714

It was beautiful learning for today. On your way to your goal for finding something, you might just be distracted by something else and some of those interactions and distraction may delay your journey, others might just provide you with a learning opportunity, an opportunity to learn and think in a direction which you hadn’t ventured into.

This is all the more relevant in the context of my finding of design thinking. Since I am not starting with a predetermined theory to prove, it is easier for me to spread my thought process to incorporate a lot of angles. While taking a journey, even if you are getting distracted, you can always link it back to your journey and find takeaways from that. a

There is a couple of things one has to remember while undertaking a journey

  1. -         One makes a journey for almost everything
  2. -         It is natural to get distracted. Do not beat yourself up for it.
  3. -         Even in the distraction, you might learn something. Cherish the learning.
  4. -         Getting distracted is not a problem. Staying distracted is. Journey Maps can help you there.
  5. -         Last but not the least, enjoy the surprises and make the most of it.

I wish you keep moving forward, make progress and keep enjoying your progress.
