I had my second Instagram Live today. My internet-live is ideally a 20-minute session and
before any live I prepare I write a speech which helps me puts my thoughts
together. I started with fervour, confidence and was excited to see people
joining in as well. Also since it was my birthday today I got a couple of
wishes which made today’s session all the more special.
So here I am, knowing what to talk about,
enjoying what I am doing, completely prepared and confident and on that note
started the session. However someone during the 6th minute, I lost
my chain of thoughts. I went completely blank. Even though I knew what I had to
speak about I was fumbling about, sometimes gasping for air, even though I ready access to material as well.
This is exactly what happens with a purpose. Even
with a clear cut sense of purpose, sometimes one tends to get lost because of innumerable distractions around; distractions to come
first, a distraction to compete, etc. I remember during my school days, I used to
start every academic year with a promise to myself. Regular studies, No leaves,
perfect copy, etc. Somewhere along the line, I lost touch and then everything
went downhill. It wasn’t until too late that I picked up and manage to scram
through.
The purpose is kinder than academic records or 20
minute internet presence. It will give you ample opportunities to come back and
start again. The refresh and restart button on our obviously have been inspired from somewhere.
There are a couple of things about the purpose that
I mentioned in today's’ session
- The purpose just doesn’t come to you as an epiphany
at least not all the time sometimes it is more a gradual process.
-
One needs to keep looking for it
-
And also while doing should be absolutely
content with the concept of a purposeless existence.
-
Purposeless is not a soulless existence.
My definition of purpose is simple. It has to
be bigger than me, should contribute to a larger cause and changes the world to
make it a better place.
